The Local NPC in Sydney, Nova Scotia

local npcWe just got back from our family trip to Newfoundland, and along the way we stopped in at the local gaming store in Sydney, Nova Scotia (ever hopeful, almost always disappointed). The name was The Local NPC, which I thought was clever and fun. It’s a professionally run store, and the clerk came over to ask us if we needed any help, which was also a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, the front of the store was pretty antiseptic without any surprises. The latest games, all of which I knew about already. I always hope to find something unique up front. That might include used games or painted miniatures or local fanzines or publications. At the back of the store were a number of tables for playing. A bunch of guys were watching Superman animation in the air conditioning (Nova Scotia was going through a rare heat wave, and not a lot of places had AC) and I had an urge to ask if there was a game going on that night we could jump into, but we had to take the ferry so we headed out to try the excellent pizza place down the way (which was every bit as good as it advertised).
