The Lorefish

LorefishAppearance: As you drop breadcrumbs on the water for the duck, a golden scaled human face rises from the depths and sucks up the moistened bread. ‘Thank you,’ it burbles in a watery alto. Ignoring the duck, it asks, ‘what would you like to know?'”

The Lorefish is a creature of Faerie, found in clear mountain streams or exceptionally pretty pools beneath waterfalls. It lives many hundreds of years, and if treated with courtesy, is known to help humans with its lore. It cannot be caught by hook, only kindness, and if caught at all, it will not share its lore. The evil mage Irina of the Blue Clouds reports that it is excellent grilled, and that its flesh tastes like honeyed salmon.
