Space: 1999, or John Byrnes and Joe Staton at Charlton

On an unrelated note, I was reading through my old comics this week and stumbled across Space:1999 from Charlton Comics, issue 6 (1976). It was a jolt from the past, because I suddenly remembered how I identified the alien in that issue with Larry Niven’s Thrint from The World of Ptavvs (1966). It also reminded me how I loved Joe Staton’s art and what a great job John Byrne did for Charlton. There were only seven issues, but they are a true treasure if you are a Space: 1999 fan. As I wrote this post, I did a quick search and discovered you can download most of the comics online at Space1999.org. I’m not sure how long they’ll be there, so check them out while you can!
